Yeastar V24.2: choose your AI model

Published June 15, 20263 min readby The PBXfactory team

Yeastar P-Series Cloud V24.2 (firmware 84.23.0.83) lets you choose the large language model behind the AI Receptionist — Gemini, GPT or Claude, for example — and write its system prompt. Data Connector exports call records to PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQL Server, and AI transcription can run on your own provider accounts.

Yeastar made P-Series V24.2 generally available for the Cloud Edition on 15 June 2026, as firmware 84.23.0.83, after a beta on 25 May. Two themes run through it: more control over the AI that answers and transcribes your calls, and getting your call data out of the PBX into the tools you already use. This summary is based on Yeastar's release notes.

Choose the AI model behind the AI Receptionist

Yeastar introduced the AI Receptionist in V23.3. V24.2 gives you more say over how it thinks and talks:

  • Pick the LLM. The release notes name Gemini, GPT and Claude as examples. They don't list specific model versions.
  • Write the system prompt. The system prompt is the standing instruction that shapes how the receptionist answers — its tone, what it should and shouldn't do. Now you can customise it.
  • Collect caller details and hand them over. You set rules for what to ask — the notes give name, email and order number as examples — and when the call goes to a person, those details go with it. Nobody has to ask "can I have your name again?"

On the Linkus side, Desktop 1.23.3 shows calls handed over by the AI Receptionist with a "From AI Receptionist" tag and an AI Insights tab with the collected details, transcript and summary.

Why the choice of model matters

Different models differ in language quality, speed and how they follow instructions. Being able to choose lets you test what works for your callers and your languages. A good system prompt matters as much as the model: keep it short, say what the receptionist is for, and say clearly when to hand over to a human.

Data Connector: call records into your own database

Data Connector exports PBX data — call detail records (CDR) and call report data — to an external database. The notes name PostgreSQL, MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server as examples. From there, business intelligence tools such as dashboards and reporting software can read it, alongside your sales or support data.

Before, getting this data out meant scheduled exports or the API. A database that stays in sync is simpler for anyone building reports. You need a database the PBX can reach, and someone to look after it.

Bring your own AI transcription accounts

AI call and voicemail transcription can now use your own accounts with third-party AI services:

Task Providers named in the notes
Speech to text (calls and voicemail) Amazon, ElevenLabs, OpenAI, Google
Call summaries OpenAI GPT, Google Gemini

That can make sense if you already have a contract with one of them. Separately, the older Google Cloud Speech-to-Text API V1 integration is no longer maintained; Yeastar recommends switching to AI transcription with the V2 API.

Other changes in V24.2

  • SMS channel for Voxtelesys: reply to customer texts in Linkus.
  • Outbound failover SIP codes: choose which SIP responses make a call fail over to the next trunk (defaults include 408, 500 and 503).
  • Ring groups: a destination for when no member is online.
  • Queues: a different destination for each "no agent available" case.
  • Group pickup: a function key to watch and pick up calls ringing in an extension group.
  • CRM and helpdesk: Chat Journal syncs external chats to the CRM when a session closes, and call journals can include the AI transcript, AI summary and call note.
  • Recording: calls entering an IVR are only recorded if that IVR is selected for automatic recording.
  • Polish is added for email templates.

Testing a new model or prompt

Change one thing at a time. Switch the model or edit the prompt, then call your own number with the questions callers really ask, in the languages they ask them. Compare the transcripts before and after. It takes an hour, and it's the difference between a receptionist that helps and one that annoys.

What this means for you

On a Yeastar P-Series Cloud PBX from PBXfactory, Yeastar's updates are applied for you in announced maintenance windows, and urgent security fixes sooner. Your settings stay as they are; the new options wait until you switch them on.

The AI Receptionist runs on minutes, and minutes beyond the included free ones are a paid Yeastar add-on — ask our support whether it's available for your PBX. Choosing a model, writing a prompt or connecting a database are PBX configuration: Yeastar's documentation covers them, and our support packages can help.
