Most calls end with someone typing notes from memory — or not typing them at all. Yeastar's P-Series Cloud Edition 84.20.0.74, released on 15 September 2025, puts AI on the call itself: a live transcript while you talk, and a summary when you hang up. The same release brings fax into the cloud and opens live call audio to other systems.
What's new in Yeastar 84.20.0.74
Yeastar's release notes list three new features:
- AI Call Transcription — real-time transcripts of 1:1 audio and video calls in Linkus, with AI summaries afterwards.
- Virtual fax integration — send and receive faxes through online fax providers, from Linkus Desktop or Web.
- WebSocket Audio Streaming — live call audio streamed to third-party platforms for analysis.
Other improvements include:
- Stereo recordings of one-to-one calls, with each party on its own channel.
- Emergency number scope — choose which extensions may dial specific emergency numbers.
- A Set Presence function key for desk phones.
- New role permissions to assign user roles and manage roles.
- Phones: Gigaset C530 IP and COMFORT 5xx IP, and XML phonebook sync for several Snom models.
How AI Call Transcription works
When it's switched on, AI Call Transcription uses the PBX's built-in AI to transcribe one-to-one audio and video calls. In Linkus, the user sees:
- a real-time transcript during the call, and
- an AI-generated summary to review after the call.
The admin enables it under Integrations, AI, Call Transcription, and grants it to specific extensions. You decide who gets it — for example a support team, but not the whole company.
Where call transcription helps
- Support and sales: no more reconstructing what the customer said from memory.
- Handovers: a colleague reads the summary instead of listening to a recording.
- Accessibility: a live transcript helps on a bad line or for people who prefer reading.
Tell your callers
A transcript is personal data, just like a recording. Under the GDPR, you need a legal basis for processing it and must tell people what you do with their data. Our post on GDPR and call recording covers the basics. This is not legal advice — check with your data protection adviser.
Virtual fax: fax without a fax machine
Some industries and authorities still expect fax. With virtual fax integration, the PBX connects to an online fax provider, and users send and receive faxes from Linkus Desktop or Web. No machine, no analogue line, no paper jam.
The release notes don't name the providers. A later release, V23.1 (March 2026), added an integration with BlueFax. From this release on, backups created through the API can include fax logs too.
WebSocket Audio Streaming
WebSocket Audio Streaming sends the audio of active calls in real time to a third-party platform over WebSocket. That's a building block for developers: speech analytics, real-time coaching, compliance checks or a custom AI service. New API calls read and change the settings.
It's not something most offices switch on themselves — but if you work with a developer or an analytics vendor, it gives them a clean way in.
Older Yealink phones and auto provisioning
One change to note if you run older desk phones: Yeastar removed auto provisioning through Yealink's RPS service for several older Yealink models (SIP-T20P, T22P, T26P, T28P, T32G, T38G, T41P, T42G, T46G, T48G, T52S and T54S), because Yealink discontinued RPS for them. Those phones can still be provisioned with a link delivered by DHCP or entered by hand.
What came after
AI transcription kept developing in later Yeastar releases:
- V23.3 (April 2026) added plan add-ons for AI Transcription minutes.
- V24.2 (June 2026) let AI Transcription use your own service accounts for speech-to-text and summaries — see choose your AI model.
- V25.1 (August 2026) added global transcription rules by call type and a feature code to start or pause transcription mid-call.
On PBXfactory
On a Yeastar P-Series Cloud PBX from PBXfactory, Yeastar's updates are applied for you — routine ones in announced maintenance windows, urgent security fixes sooner.
AI transcription runs on minutes, and Yeastar sells add-ons for it. We won't promise availability here: ask our support whether it's available for your PBX. The online fax provider is your choice and your contract. Setting up transcription, fax or audio streaming is PBX configuration, outside our included support. Yeastar's documentation, your IT partner or our paid support packages can help.
